On Wednesday, June 16, the Laguna Board of Realtors held a wine and cheese reception to present checks to local charitable organizations, from proceeds raised at A “Taste for Charity” & Silent Art Auction held on May 19 at Tivoli Too! Also recognized, were the 2011 People’s Choice award winners from the “Taste,” voted on by that day’s attendees who cast their ballots for their favorite artists.

The Taste raised more than $51,000 for these deserving recipients to further the wonderful contributions they make to the Laguna Beach community: First Thursdays Art Walk; Helping Hands; Laguna Beach Seniors; Laguna Beach High School (two scholarships to high school seniors who plan on majoring in the art field); Laguna Playhouse; Laguna Plein Air Painters; No Square Theatre; and the Laguna Board of Realtors Charitable Assistance Foundation, which provides assistance and relief to Realtor and Affiliate Members of the Laguna Board who are in need.

Ben Warner, vice president of marketing and business development with Firebrand Media Inc., also made a check presentation in excess of $1,000 to be donated to the Laguna Board of Realtors Charitable Assistance Foundation.

The People’s Choice winners from a field of 75 artists and 17 galleries at the Taste were: First Place – Dagmar Chaplin; Second Place – Rachel Uchizono and Third Place – Renee Vanelli.

The event was such a success thanks to the generous sponsors and artists, the hard-working committee and numerous volunteers, as well as those who graciously donated auction items.

See you next year!
