    Samantha Nugent and Todd Davis with Compass close $34-million listing

    Retired media and entertainment investor Gordon Crawford has sold his 7,700-square-foot oceanfront estate in at 63 Monarch Bay for $34 million—making it a three-time record breaker for Dana Point! The Crawfords purchased the home brand new for $33 million, setting a record at the time. Fast forward to today, and the home has officially done it again—selling for $34 million after being listed last year for $39 million. The couple had since moved to another nearby property. Prior to that, it broke its first record in 2022 when the Crawfords bought it. This latest sale makes it a three-time record-setter for Dana Point’s ultra-luxury market.

    Compass listing agents Samantha Nugent and Todd Davis shared that the new owner is a local drawn to Monarch Bay’s exclusivity and access to the community’s private beach club. The buyer also purchased an additional $2 million worth of designer furnishings, art, and curated pieces directly from the sellers.

    “Everyone talks about international/global reach as a big value proposition. All of these “top agents” use that in their marketing,” said Todd Davis, Compass. “But in the end, what matters most is your local connection and network. That will always trump anything else. Those personal relationships that you foster. That is what brings the buyers.” 

    “The Luxury Market remains strong. Serious buyers are out there and for the right property, they are making moves. We had a lot of activity with this listing. Quality is everything. We had the best view and the best home,” Samantha Nugent, Compass said.Representing the buyer was Phillip Caruso of Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California.
