Shauna Covington named No. 1 Prudential Individual Agent for 2010 in Laguna Beach for Fifth Year in a Row

 Prudential California Realty, Inc. announced Shauna Covington as its No. 1 individual sales agent in Laguna Beach. To achieve this distinction, Covington had the top production in revenue out of all of the family of Prudential agents throughout Laguna Beach.

Experienced, skilled and connected, Covington has been a top-producing agent in the Prudential California Realty Laguna Beach office for 10 years, working with clients in Laguna Beach, Monarch Beach, Laguna Niguel and Dana Point.

A graduate from the University of Southern California with a degree in education, Covington received the USC Educational Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award from the School of Education. A licensed real estate agent since 1988, she has continued her commitment in upholding the highest ethical professionalism along with providing first-class personal service to every one of her clients and professional associates. 

Covington launched her two-decade real estate career as sales manager for Covington Homes in Orange and San Diego counties. She set records for selling out communities before they were completed. Working with nothing but an open lot and a set of architectural plans taught her a lot. “I became very good at visualizing floor plans, potential remodels and expansions. It’s a skill my clients appreciate today,” Covington said.

Before joining Covington Homes, she honed her abilities as an award-winning sales manager for Minolta Business Systems, where she led her sales team to the No. 1 spot in the nation. “Working with Fortune 500 companies every day taught me the delicate art of negotiation and the importance of communication and follow-up,” Covington shared.

One of her key marketing strategies is superb property photography. “Now that virtually all home searches begin on the Internet, it’s essential to create breathtaking visual images,” Covington said. She works with a hand-picked stable of gifted stagers, lighting pros and photographers to showcase her listings. The results not only make for compelling property websites; they regularly land her houses on the cover of many luxury real estate publications.

In today’s changing market, Covington’s global connections have proven especially valuable. “I’m seeing a large number of international sales. Our marketing has substantially increased on Internet based-real estate websites. You have to do it all if you want to capture this market. Local advertising in regional publications is also important for residents and visitors that come to Coastal Orange County,” she said.

Her networking skills are so effective that she’s often asked to speak at agent seminars on the topic.

In the end, success boils down to putting yourself in your client’s shoes. “It’s knowing what they need in their life at that particular time, where they want to go – then helping them make that next chapter happen. Clients look to us for knowledge. We need to be able to give them all the details they need to be confident about us and about their own decisions,” she shared.

Shauna Covington has served as the secretary and as a director for the Laguna Board of Realtors since 2007, as well as a director of Prudential’s Luxury Division and the Southern California Multiple Listing Service.
